๐ŸŽฃ Tackle Box Adventures โ€” Terms of Use

A family of kids' fishing guides across Canada ยท Effective date: June 3, 2026 ยท Version 1.0

The short version: Tackle Box Adventures is a free educational guide to help kids learn about fishing in Canada. It is learning material, not official advice โ€” always confirm the current rules with your province's fishing authority, and always fish with a grown-up. A parent or guardian agrees to these terms on behalf of any child who uses the app.
๐Ÿ“š Educational use ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ‘ง Parent-approved use ๐Ÿฆบ Safety first ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ Canadian law
๐Ÿฆบ Safety comes first โ€” please read this part. Fishing and being near water carry real risks, including slips, falls, hooks, weather, wildlife, and the danger of drowning. Tackle Box Adventures is a guide for learning. It is not a substitute for a responsible adult. Children must always be supervised by a parent, guardian, or trusted adult when near water or fishing, and should always wear a properly fitted life jacket.

1. Agreeing to these terms

By using Tackle Box Adventures (the "app"), you agree to these Terms of Use and to our Privacy Policy. If a child uses the app, a parent or legal guardian accepts these terms on the child's behalf and is responsible for the child's use of the app. If you do not agree with these terms, please do not use the app.

2. What the app is โ€” and is not

The app is a free, educational fishing guide for children and families. It teaches how, where, and what to fish across Canadian provinces and territories, including species facts, gear and technique basics, safety, and summaries of local regulations.

3. Fishing regulations โ€” always confirm with the authority

Each provincial edition's fishing facts and rules are summarized from that province or territory's own official fishing regulations as published at the time of writing. Regulations change, can vary by water body and season, and may contain errors or become out of date. The app is provided as a guide only. Before fishing, you must confirm the current rules, seasons, limits, and licence requirements with the official fishing authority for your province or territory. You are solely responsible for fishing lawfully. We assume no liability for any errors, omissions, or changes in regulatory information presented in the app.

4. Safety and assumption of risk

Fishing and outdoor and water-based activities involve inherent risks, including but not limited to injury, hooks, cuts, slips and falls, cold, sun, insects and ticks, wildlife encounters, weather and water hazards, and the risk of drowning. By using the app in connection with any fishing or outdoor activity, you acknowledge these risks and assume full responsibility for the safety of yourself and any child in your care. You agree that adult supervision and proper safety equipment, including life jackets, are your responsibility and not the app's. Use of the app is at your own risk.

5. Permitted use (licence)

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app for your own and your family's personal, non-commercial, educational use. You agree not to:

Institutions (schools, camps, libraries, youth organizations) may use the app with the children in their care; separate institutional or licensing terms may apply for bulk or branded use โ€” contact us.

6. Intellectual property

The Tackle Box Adventures name, logo, wordmark, app design, written content, illustrations, and the characters โ€” including Finn, Nana Pearl, Cast, Brook, and Pike โ€” are the property of Tackle Box Adventures and its owner, and are protected by Canadian and international intellectual-property laws. Provincial fishing-regulation facts are sourced from government publications and remain the work of their respective authorities. Map data is ยฉ OpenStreetMap contributors, used under the Open Database License. Nothing in these terms grants you any right to use our names, logos, or characters without our prior written permission.

7. Indigenous names and cultural content

Where the app presents Indigenous land names, species names, or cultural concepts, this content is included respectfully and, where shown, is sourced or verified with Indigenous-language knowledge holders. It is presented for educational and acknowledgement purposes. We do not claim ownership of Indigenous languages or cultural knowledge, and we welcome corrections from the communities concerned.

8. Purchases

The app is currently free and contains no in-app purchases. If optional paid features are introduced in the future, they will be clearly described, will require a parent or guardian to approve any purchase through a parental gate and the app store's standard purchase process, and these terms and the Privacy Policy will be updated before any such feature is released.

9. Third-party services and links

The app uses map tiles and place-name lookups from OpenStreetMap (see the Privacy Policy). If you choose to email us or leave an app-store rating, that is handled by your own device's email app or app store. These services have their own terms. We are not responsible for the content, availability, or practices of third-party services or of any external website that may be reached from information in the app.

10. "As is" โ€” no warranties

The app and all of its content are provided strictly on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the app will be accurate, complete, current, uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for any particular purpose.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Tackle Box Adventures, its owner, and its contributors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, injury, property damage, or other loss arising out of or related to your use of (or inability to use) the app or your reliance on any information in it โ€” including any fishing-regulation, safety, weather, species, or location information. Because the app is provided free of charge, to the extent any liability cannot be excluded, it shall not exceed CAD $20. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of these limits may not apply to you; where your local consumer-protection law provides higher protection, that higher standard applies.

12. Indemnity

You agree to take responsibility for, and to hold harmless Tackle Box Adventures and its owner from, any claims arising out of your or your child's use of the app in a way that breaks these terms or any applicable law.

13. Changes to the app and to these terms

We may update, change, or discontinue the app or any part of it at any time. If we change these terms, we will update the "Effective date" and version above and post the new version at this address. Continued use of the app after an update means you accept the revised terms.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Nova Scotia and the federal laws of Canada applicable there, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Where your local consumer-protection law provides higher protections, those higher standards prevail.
