A family of kids' fishing guides across Canada ยท Effective date: June 3, 2026 ยท Version 2.0

The short version: Tackle Box Adventures does not collect personal information from anyone โ€” children or adults. There are no accounts and no sign-in. Everything a child saves (catch log, photos, favourite spots, badges, progress) stays on their own device and is never uploaded to us. There are no ads, no in-app purchases, and no third-party tracking, advertising, or analytics, and we never sell or share personal data.

This policy covers the whole Tackle Box Adventures family of kids' fishing guide apps โ€” the Canada hub and each provincial edition (Nova Scotia, Ontario, and others as they launch). The same privacy commitments below apply to every app in the family.

๐Ÿ‘‹ A note for parents & guardians. This app is built for your child to use safely on their own. It asks for nothing โ€” no name, no age, no email, no login, no location permission โ€” and nothing your child does in the app is sent to us or anyone else. Anything they save lives only on your device. You stay in control: clearing the app's data or deleting the app erases everything.

1. Who this app is for

Tackle Box Adventures is a family of educational fishing guide apps designed for children (roughly ages 6โ€“15) and their families across Canada. Each app is intended to be safe for a general / "Everyone" audience and is built to meet children's-app standards including the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), the Google Play Families Policy, and Apple's Kids Category requirements.

2. Information we collect

We do not collect any personal information. Specifically, the app does not ask for or transmit a child's (or anyone's) name, age, birthday, email address, phone number, home address, photos, contacts, or precise/GPS location.

3. Information stored on your device (not collected by us)

To make the app useful, some information is saved locally on the device using the browser's standard storage (localStorage). This includes the catch log, any photos a child adds to a catch, favourite lakes/spots, earned badges, quiz progress, and app settings.

4. Ratings & feedback

Some editions include an optional in-app rating โ€” a star rating plus an optional free-text comment. If a user chooses to submit it, that rating and comment are sent to the app maker through a simple form. No name, age, email, location, or device identifier is attached, and nothing is sent unless the user taps submit. We ask that any comment contain no personal details about a child. You can also rate the app through your device's app-store prompt or email us from your own mail app (see Section 11); those are handled entirely by your own device.

5. Maps and location

Map tiles are provided by OpenStreetMap. The app does not use your device's GPS and never asks for location permission. Saved spots are placed on the map only by looking up the place name a user types (a public OpenStreetMap name lookup that requires internet). Map pins are stored on the device only.

6. The only internet connections the app makes

After it first loads, the app works offline. It contains no advertising, tracking, or analytics services, and it sends nothing about your activity to us. The only times the app talks to the internet are for these limited, non-tracking purposes, and none of them send personal information:

As with any internet request, the service you connect to can see your device's IP address (this is how the internet works for every website and app). None of these requests include a name, an account, or a tracking identifier, and we do not log them to profile anyone.

Pronunciation audio is pre-recorded and bundled inside the app. When a child taps the ๐Ÿ”Š button to hear a fish name, a place name, or an Indigenous name spoken aloud, the sound plays from a file stored on the device โ€” it is not generated by, or sent to, any cloud voice service.

7. No advertising, tracking, or sale of data

The app contains no third-party advertising, no in-app purchases, no remarketing, and no analytics or tracking technologies. We do not, and will never, sell, rent, or share personal information for advertising or any other purpose.

8. Children's privacy (COPPA, PIPEDA & family policies)

Tackle Box Adventures is designed to comply with the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), including its 2025 amendments; Canada's PIPEDA; the Google Play Families Policy; and Apple's Kids Category and age-rating requirements. Because we do not collect, use, or disclose personal information from children โ€” and create no persistent identifier to track them โ€” no verifiable parental consent step is required to use the app. If you believe a child has somehow provided personal information through the app, please contact us (Section 11) and we will delete it promptly.

9. Data retention & deletion

Because the only data the app stores is kept on your own device, you control it completely and we have nothing to retain. To delete everything, clear the website/app data in your browser settings, use the app's own delete controls, or uninstall the app from the home screen. Since the app does not send your information to us, there is no copy of it on our side for us to hold, recall, or delete.

10. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update the "Effective date" and version number above and post the new version at this address. If we ever introduce a feature that changes what information is involved (for example, an optional paid unlock or an online leaderboard), we will update this policy before that feature is released and clearly describe what is new. Continued use of the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.

12. Privacy Officer (Quรฉbec โ€” Law 25)

In keeping with Quรฉbec's Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (Law 25), the person responsible for the protection of personal information at Tackle Box Adventures can be reached at hello@tackleboxadventures.app. You may contact the Privacy Officer with any question or request about personal information โ€” including a request to access or delete information, or a privacy complaint. Because the app stores its data on your own device and we do not collect personal information, most requests can be resolved by you directly in the app; the Privacy Officer is here for anything else.
