🎣 Tackle Box Adventures — Privacy Policy

1. Who this app is for

Tackle Box Adventures is an educational fishing guide designed for children (roughly ages 6–15) and their families in Nova Scotia, Canada. It is intended to be safe for a general/"Everyone" audience.

2. Information we collect

We do not collect any personal information. Specifically, the app does not ask for or transmit a child's (or anyone's) name, age, birthday, email address, phone number, home address, photos, contacts, or precise location.

• No account creation and no login.
• No advertising identifiers and no behavioural profiles.
• No analytics or tracking SDKs of any kind.

3. Information stored on your device

To make the app useful, some information is saved locally on the device using the browser's standard storage (localStorage). This includes the catch log, any photos a child adds to a catch, favourite lakes/spots, earned badges, and app settings.

• This data never leaves the device and is never sent to us or any third party.
• You can delete it at any time by clearing the browser/site data or uninstalling the app.
• The optional "Backup / Share" buttons in the catch log are controlled entirely by the user — data is only exported if a user chooses to share or save a file themselves.

4. The "Rate this app" feature

Inside the app, users may optionally send an anonymous rating: a 1–5 star score and an optional free-text comment. No name, age, email, or location is attached. We ask users not to type personal details into the comment. These anonymous ratings are sent to the app maker (via Netlify Forms) only to help improve the app, and are not linked to any individual.

5. Maps and location

Map tiles are provided by OpenStreetMap. The app does not use your device's GPS and never asks for location permission. Saved spots are placed on the map only by looking up the place name a user types (a public OpenStreetMap name lookup that needs internet). Pins are stored on the device.

6. No advertising, tracking, or sale of data

The app contains no third-party advertising, no in-app purchases, no remarketing, and no analytics or tracking technologies. We do not, and will never, sell or rent any data.

7. Children's privacy (COPPA & family policies)

Tackle Box Adventures is designed to comply with the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the Google Play Families Policy, and Apple's Kids Category / age-rating requirements. Because we do not collect personal information from anyone, no parental-consent step is required to use the app. If you believe a child has somehow provided personal information through the app, please contact us (below) and we will address it promptly.

8. Data retention & deletion

Because data is stored only on the device, you control it completely. To delete everything, clear the website/app data in your browser settings, use the app's own delete controls, or uninstall the app from the home screen. Anonymous ratings already submitted cannot be linked back to a user and therefore cannot be individually identified or recalled.

9. Internet use

After the first load the app works offline. An internet connection is only used to download map tiles, look up a place name you type, or (optionally) send an anonymous rating. Fish facts, rules, the fishing score, sun, moon, and tide information all work without internet.

10. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update the "Effective date" above and post the new version at this address. Continued use of the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.
